Tonight’s game should be an electrifying rematch between the 2013 World Series contenders.

Lance Lynn (11-8, 2.98) is in the middle of a career-defining season and is expected to take the mound for the Redbirds. Lynn has dominated AL teams this season over his 20.1 innings pitched. He has allowed only three earned runs and fewer than twenty hits. Tonight should be no exception to his dominance has he faces a lackluster Boston lineup. Rubby De La Rosa (3-4, 3.64), a novice, has had a successful season as well but over far fewer outings (10).

Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the season is Boston’s performance. Starting the season in the top ten on every major ranking, they quickly fell to the bottom and have stayed their nearly the entire season. Many commentators argue that Boston has already given up its season by trading away pitchers Lackey and Lester for mostly prospects and players expected to improve in future years.

Former Cardinal, Allen Craig, will most likely make an appearance tonight has he lines up with Boston. One cannot expect much from his performance tonight as this season may turn into the worst of his career for no obvious reason expected from such a dropoff from last year.

Expect a major defensive battle tonight as both offences have been unimpresive. Gametime is 7:15 at Busch.
