Bill Dewitt III spoke this morning at Winter Warm-Up to a group of about 100 fans. Here’s a little bit of what he had to say:

  • Ballpark village is “on the one yard line,” and construction should begin very shortly. It will be a three-plus story development that includes shops, restaurants, a new Cardinals museum and Hall of Fame, among many other attractions.
  • He believes the Cardinals are the best in the game in regards to dynamic ticket pricing. It is very fair to season ticket holders and it allows fans of all financial levels to be able to attend multiple games throughout the season.
  • There are currently no plans in place to develop a Cardinals TV network, as a constant challenge of small market teams would be to find additional content and programming. Their deal with FOX Sports expires in five years.
  • The team has no plans to move Spring Training sites despite the influx of teams now on the west coast. They enjoy Jupiter and they’re hoping that some teams ultimately decide to move a bit closer to give them more flexibility in who they play throughout March.

It was a very entertaining and informative Q&A session. He also spoke briefly about Stan at the beginning and, not surprisingly, had very nice words to say about him. It’s safe to say that Stan ultimately became the face of this year’s Winter Warm-Up. He touched so many lives over the course of his life, and his passing is a very sad event for all Cardinals fans. There will be a two-hour special dedicated to Stan that will air tonight on Fox Sports Midwest.
