Bud Selig appeared on 101ESPN this morning and talked about Stan Musial. Here’s a little bit of what he had to say:
ON WATCHING STAN AS A CHILD: “You knew were watching greatness. You knew you were watching a legend. Stan Musial represents everything good about baseball, as well as life and society. You never heard a bad word about him.”
ON STAN INITIALLY NOT MAKING ALL-CENTURY TEAM: “I looked at the vote, and I said to my guys ‘What are you kidding?’ .331 lifetime average, 3,630 hits. If Stan Musial isn’t on the All-Century Team, we might as well not have one. So, I decided to do something about it…and it was the right thing to do.”
An hour special on the life of Stan Musial will air on MLB Network tonight at 8PM CST.
