— Jaime Garcia gave up two runs and six hits over 6 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out six, lowering his ERA to 3.92. He also hit a home run off Reds’ starter Bronson Arroyo in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1.

— Allen Craig hit an RBI-double to drive in Carlos Beltran, giving them a 2-1 lead. He now has 35 doubles on the season.

— Daniel Descalso tripled in the sixth inning, his seventh of the year, to drive in Yadier Molina and give the Cards a 4-1 lead.
