Former Manager Tony La Russa’s New Memoir

Cardinals fans who didn’t make the trip to Houston or have time to catch tonight’s game  against the Astros on TV still had a chance to get their daily dose of Cards action downtown today. Tony La Russa, the Cards manager from 1996 all the way through last year’s World Series-winning team, was at Left Bank Books this afternoon signing copies of his new memoir, “One Last Strike”. Focusing on the story behind the 2011 Cardinals incredible playoff run, Russa gets into the nitty gritty details of his sometimes controversial managing style, and explains how the personal relationships he made with his players helped define his career. Asked about this year’s Cardinals, Tony predicted that the team will be back in the playoffs.

Bottom Line: If you’re looking to get an inside look into one of the greatest managerial minds in baseball history and want to revisit the glory of last year’s World Series-winning squad, then you might want to get your hands on this memoir. Here’s a link to it on Amazon.
