Cardinals look to regroup from their abysmal series in Baltimore against Miami.
Post-Rookie, Shelby Miller, takes the mound tonight as he looks to improve on a solid 3.99 ERA and an even win-loss record. The Cardinals are scoring less than 3.30 runs per game on average so it could be a real challenge for him to improve. In his last outing, Miller gave up only one run over seven innings but came away with a loss thanks to the Cardinals’ inconsistent, and oftentimes unappealing, offense.
Tom Koehler (7-9, 3.80) is almost evenly matched with Miller. In his only start against the Cards, however, he gave up nine runs in less than five innings in Miami last year. Hopefully, Koehler will have nightmares after tonight’s game as well.
In the Cards’ last eleven meetings with Miami; they have been victorious eight times. With yesterday’s win over the O’s, the Birds avoided the sweep. However, their pitching staff crumbled at Camden yard. Miller will have to watch out for Giancarlo Stanton, the young Marlins slugger.
The Birds need a vacation, hopefully Miami will provide an easy series. Gametime is at 7:10 (EST) in Miami.
