Pitching Matchup: Shelby Miller (10-9, 3.68) takes the mound for the Cards in pursuit of his eighth quality start in a row. In his last eight starts, he has gone at least eight innings and has only given up 11 runs. His command has been very sharp as of late. He has not given up a walk in his last 19 innings and has surrendered only two runs. He faced the Cubs back on August 29th where he gave up two runs on four hits and two walks in seven innings of work.
Kyle Hendricks (7-2, 2.28) is the starter for the Cubs on Tuesday. Hendricks has given up 12 runs over his last six starts. He last faced the Cards on August 29th where he two runs on five hits and one walk throughout six innings.
The Skinny: The Cards need to take advantage of a struggling Cubs team. Hendricks is a rookie so, hopefully, the Cards can capitalize on his inexperience. With less than a week left of the season, now is the time for the Cards to look to clinch the division and avoid having to play in a wild card playoff game. Miller has been great recently, and the Cards look to support him with solid offense.
