Pitching Matchup: Lance Lynn (15-9, 2.68) takes the mound for the Cards on Sunday.  He has given up just one run in his last three starts and is looking to continue his success.  He has walked just two batters in his last 15 innings of work while striking out 11.  He received the loss in his outing against the Reds on September 11th despite going eight innings, surrendering only one run on three hits.

Alfredo Simon (14-10, 3.35) is on the bump for the Reds as he looks to build off of his last two starts.  He has given up 10 hits and four walks in his last 14 innings but has only surrendered 2 runs.  Those two runs came from the Cards, whom he faced on September 10th and received the win.

The Skinny: The Cards need Lance Lynn to be the co-ace of this team as we gear up for the playoffs.  While the Reds are not a playoff team, they provide a good opportunity for Lynn to keep working on his pitch counts and pitch location.  Fortunately for the Cards, they face the Cubs and D-backs later this week, so the offense should continue to become stronger before October baseball.
