The Bottom Line: The Cardinals offense exploded tonight, hitting 3 home runs and scoring 8.  The Cardinals knocked Reds starting pitcher Mike Leake out after only 5 innings.  Leake gave up 6 runs, 5 earned.  While much of the run production came in the second and third innings with a 3-run homer and a 2-run homer from Tony Cruz and Kolten Wong respectively, the largest blast of the night was a 484 ft. bomb from pinch-hitter Randy Grichuk (the longest home run at Busch Stadium this season).

Postseason Push: The Cardinals are currently 3.0 games ahead of the Pirates who are currently playing the Brewers with a score of 1-0 Milwaukee in the top of the ninth.  *Update* The Pirates 5 game win streak was snapped as the lost to the Brewers 1-0.  They are now 3.5 games behind the Cardinals.

What’s Next?: Lance Lynn (15-9, 2.68 ERA) is on the bump facing off against Alfredo Simon (14-10, 3.35 ERA) tomorrow at 7:05 CST.
