The Bottom Line: The Cards took advantage of three consecutive walks by Padres All-Star pitcher Tyson Ross to start the game, and Matt Adams belted an RBI single while Jhonny Peralta recorded an RBI groundout to jumpstart the Cards into a 4-2 victory. Kolten Wong and Oscar Taveras added insurance runs, and setup man Pat Neshek notched his third save of the season, despite giving up a solo homer, to ensure the 4-2 win.
Lynn’s Sharp Outing: By allowing just one run on six hits and a walk in six innings of work, Lance Lynn (13-8, 2.91 ERA) turned in another efficient performance. Lynn recorded six strikeouts as well, but he had to be taken out after six because he had tossed 102 pitches. Nonetheless, he solidified himself as the second-best starter for the Cards, just behind Adam Wainwright.
