After committing a costly 2-run error last night, failing to record a hit, and striking out twice against Ryan Vogelsong, Tyler Greene is not surprisingly out of the Cardinal’s lineup on Thursday.

Given a rare start yesterday, Greene did not capitalize. The Redbirds face a left handed pitcher in San Francisco’s Madison Bumgarner today, seemingly a good spot for the right handed hitting Greene to get in the lineup again. Even with Rafael Furcal a bit banged up, and Daniel Descalso 0-9 in the series so far, Greene cannot seem to crack the lineup.

Furthermore, Furcal seems to have given up the leadoff spot to Jon Jay, forcing a lefty-lefty matchup at the top of the order vs. Bumgarner. Greene’s right handed bat would be a big boost to the Cardinal’s down the stretch, but in his rare starts Greene has dissapointed–none more than on Wednesday night. It appears that the Card’s strongest right handed hitting middle infielder has played his way into the dog house with Manager Mike Matheny.
