Revisionist History: Davey Johnson Style

…but wouldn’t it have been prudent of Nationals manager Davey Johnson to have intentionally walked Pete Kozma in the 9th inning once Daniel Descalso stole 2nd base, leaving 1st base open. In that event, Matheny would have had to pinch hit someone for Jason Motte (in a 7-7 game), who then could not have closed the game in the bottom of the 9th. It’s always interesting to play the revisionist history card, but in retrospect, that is something interesting to ponder.
