Jack Flaherty is a highly rated pitching prospect in the organization. In 2014, he was selected in the first round. In that same year, MLB.com’s prospect watch report rated Jack as the 5th best prospect in the farm system. Jack is a very consistent pitcher, which is why he draws such high praise. In 2015, was 9-3 in 18 starts and had an ERA of 2.84. He only averaged 2.9 walks per 9 innings and he only gave up 2 homeruns in 95 innings pitched. On the 20/80 scale, Jack was rated the following: Fastball 50/60, Changeup 55/65, Curveball 45/50, Slider 55/60, Command 50, Pitchability 45/60. Jack consistently throws around 94 MPH and has a very athletic body. After only pitching at the A level last year, Jack still obviously has a long way to go before he reaches the major league. With a lot of room for growth, I don’t think we see Jack pitch for the Cardinals until 2018 at the earliest.
