John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer wrote on Sunday morning about the reality that the Cincinnati Reds do not have very much wiggle room to improve their team this winter.

The Reds had an $87 million payroll in 2012. With $71 million already committed for 2013 and seven arbitration-eligible players, GM Walt Jocketty is going have to get pretty creative in order to keep his team around the $87 million level.

While the Cardinals don’t have all that much money to spend, I would certainly not be surprised to see Mozeliak go over the $110 million they had from last year, as we have been hearing him rumors of him trying to acquire a shortstop and potentially another lefty for the bullpen.
