Herrera signed at the age of 17 out of the Dominican Republic. At 5’11” 165lb, Herrera is a traditional shortstop. He hits for average, runs well, and has an exceptional glove. He has soft hands while covering tremendous ground. He does not have an impressive arm but it is adequate enough to complete the necessary throws. As almost every young shortstop, Herrera has to improve his consistency in the field. Herrera’s fall back is his lack of ability at the plate. He has the potential to be a .280 hitter but strikes out too often while drawing very few walks.
