Here is the live feed of the Chris Carpenter press conference:

11:00: “It’s definitely not working the way it should work, and it’s not fair to my teammates and the organization to try and go down there and try and make myself think it will be OK”

11:01: “The numbness has gone away but the one thing I haven’t done is throw…I had to stop tricking myself. I tried to find myself positive out of every single throw…”

11:02: “We’ll just have to see what happens through time.” (On whether he is ruling out 2013)

11:03: “I don’t think so. For one I’m not ready to go and throw. A lot of people have asked me to come down…but I don’t want to be a distraction and I just want to get away and evaluate what’s going on…” (On whether or not he’ll go down to Spring Training)

11:04: “It’s an obligation to a ballclub…I definitely felt like going into the offseason that with rest and strengthening I was going to feel better, but it didn’t happen.” (On why he’s not retiring)

11:05: “I don’t think I’ll ever retire, to be honest with you, I’ll never use that word.”

11:06: “…I decided to go out and try it and it has just continued to go downhill…I was throwing the ball at 70% and my arm was numb and I had no idea where it was going…”

11:07: “It was a concern last year, and it’s another concern this year, and that’s why I haven’t thrown…The ordeal is tough for me because I’m sick and tired of dealing with arm stuff…I was excited about this year and proving myself…and as of now that’s not going to happen.” (On whether arm issues could affect life going forward)

11:12: “…When you’re in this situation once it’s hard enough, but more than that it becomes a big pain.”

11:13: “I’m not ready to do that. I’m not ready not to not mentor kids…I always want to be apart of this organization…and I hope to be able to do that when it’s all said and done…but in my mind right now I need to figure out what’s going on because mentally it’s tough.”

11:14: “I’m not going to have surgery again…but I’ll do anything else.”

11:19: “I was really anxious to start throwing…I did a lot of things this winter to make sure there was nothing unturned that I could have done differently and I was throwing great all Winter…I was excited about my first bullpen…there were a lot of things that were different and I was excited about what was going to happen this year…until it just started to go downhill, I don’t know what happened.”

11:21: “Absolutely. He’s done it before and he’ll do it again.” (On whether or not he has confidence with Adam Wainwright leading the staff)
