On the B.J. Rains Show this morning, Jim Callis predicted that Kolten Wong will be the everyday second baseman for the Cardinals come the 2013 playoffs
I think Jim Callis does great work but this is a pretty aggressive claim. As you see in our weekly CardsBlog poll, there are a lot of options for second base. I know the front office is interested in letting Wong have a bit more seasoning in the minor leagues, particularly since going from AA to the Majors is not an easy jump. Let’s see what guys like Daniel Descalso and Pete Kozma have to offer before we rush Wong up to St. Louis. Let’s see if Rafael Furcal is truly healthy. Having said that, if there are an abundance of injuries or lack of depth that we can’t perceive sitting here in January, then having Wong with the club in October is certainly a possibility.
