Luke Weaver is rated the fourth-best prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Last year, with a full season of work at the A level, Luke had a 1.62 ERA in 19 starts and 105.1 innings. Baseball America voted him onto the Class-A minor league All-Star team. Luke is a very skinny and lanky pitcher, who lacks the power to overwhelm hitters. His fastball consistently hangs around the low 90’s, but he fools hitters with his crafty change up. He was given the following ratings: Fastball 60, Changeup 55/60, Slider 35/55, Command 60, Pitchability 55. He lacks a strong breaking pitch, so he may be awhile away from becoming an effective pitcher at the MLB. However, with his strong 2015 season, scouts are once again hopeful that Luke has the potential to become a successful pitcher at the big leagues. Luke probably wont make his major league debut until at least 2018.
