Despite Adams sitting the last two games due to a tight calf muscle, it is not likely that we will see him on the 15-day disabled list. Cardinals’ manager Mike Matheny commented on the situation, explaining that they were being cautious.
Matheny stated, “We took a closer look at him. We’re confident that they didn’t see anything major there, but enough so that we’ve got to be cautious.”
Adams is a key offensive player for the Cards. The first basemen is hitting .325 with 21 multi-hit game, giving him the fifth ranked batting average in the National league.
While he may sit again tonight, it is better to be safe then sorry in this situation.
