“When you look at the other guys who are going to be in the bullpen, it’s a pretty impressive group… I’m real excited about it, real excited about this opportunity.”
On needing to start working out a bit earlier now that his season will be starting a little sooner:
“I’ve always had to come into spring training at the top of my game to win a spot on the team,” Boggs said. “I don’t think it’s going to change much for me. The competition will be at a different level sooner. I don’t think it can get any more important though than pitching for your job and that’s basically how every spring has been for me.”
In 2012, Boggs went 4-1 with a 2.21 ERA over 73.1 innings.
