Multiple news outlets are reporting that Boston Red Sox great Johnny Pesky has passed away at the age of 92. Over a 10-year career, Pesky hit .307 while collecting 1457 hits and scoring 867 runs.
While he may not have much relevance to the history of the Cardinals, he undoubtedly has a significant place in the history of Major League Baseball, as he was a very well known color commentator,manager, coach, and special instructor. He was widely known as one of the better personalities in baseball was beloved by Red Sox nation, among many other baseball fans. Fenway Park’s right field foul pole, “Pesky’s Pole”, is of course named after Pesky.
