Three of the four Caribbean Winter Leagues announced their regular season awards on Tuesday, with Oscar Taveras taking home Rookie of the Year. From the article:
The Rookie of the Year in the Dominican League was top Cardinals prospect Oscar Taveras. The No. 12 overall prospect in the Minors, Taveras followed up a torrid Double-A Texas League campaign — he hit .321/.380/.572 and earned league MVP honors for champion Springfield — with a winter season that was just as strong. The 20-year-old lefty hitter batted .316/.379/.507 with five homers and 17 RBIs in 39 games for Aguilas, which posted the best record on the circuit.
Congrats to him. He played splendidly last season in Springfield and seems to continue to beat any competition he faces. I’m looking forward to seeing him down in Jupiter in about six weeks.
