Preview: Cardinals at Brewers (9/6/2014)

Milwaukee defeated the Cardinals on Friday to snap a 9-game losing streak.

The Pitching Matchup: Lance Lynn (14-8, 2.85 ERA) has won his last three decisions and looks to stay effective against the Brewers today. Lynn limited the Pirates last Monday to 3 runs in 6 innings, despite laboring through 52 pitches in the first two innings. In his last 10 games, he has 2.30 ERA and struck out 53 while walking only 23.

Veteran Kyle Lohse (12-8, 3.68 ERA) will be taking the mound for Milwaukee. Lohse is coming off a a rough start in which he gave up seven runs to San Francisco in 5 innings and struck out three.

The Skinny: Milwaukee needs help from all of their starters, including Lohse, if they want to regain the division lead that they held all season until last Monday. Lohse’s performances have been inconsistent in the past few starts, so Cardinals fans have reason to be optimistic about today’s game as long as Lynn continues pitching as he has been.
