The Reds signed Armando Galarraga to a minor league contract today. Galarraga is famous for nearly throwing a perfect game in 2010 while with the Tigers that was unfortunately broken up by an admittedly horrible call by respected umpire Jim Joyce with two outs in the 9th inning. Galarraga pitched last season for the Astros, going 0-4 with a 6.45 ERA, and is 26-34 lifetime with a 4.78 ERA over his 6-year career.
The Reds will be hosting the 2015 All-Star Game at Great American Ballpark, with the official announcement expected to be made tomorrow morning. The Reds last hosted an All-Star Game in 1988 at Riverfront Stadium. They also hosted the game there in 1970, as well as at Crosley Field in 1953 and 1938. Before arriving in Cincinnati, the All-Star Game will be hosted by the Mets at Citi Field in New York in 2013 and by the Twins and Target Field in Minneapolis in 2014.
