Jenifer Langosch gives a great rundown of all the tidbits from today on her blog. A couple of notable things from there:
- Since pitchers were limited in what they could do because of the rain, Mike Matheny had them gather in the batting cages for an extended bunting session that lasted about 45 minutes. Bunting is going to be a priority all spring long.
- Former Cardinals manager Tony La Russa made a stop in camp today — though he was here for business. La Russa continues to work for MLB and he is part of a group hitting all the Spring Training facilities to discuss rule changes with coaching staffs.
- Carlos Martinez and Ronny Cedeno continue to be held up by visa issues. Neither is expected to be here Friday.
Bunting was an issue last season. Something that often hurt the Cardinals late in games was their inability to move runners over in crucial situations, so I’m happy to see that it has been made a priority early and often.
