At the beginning of today’s game, Rick Ankiel saluted the Cardinals. Classy move from a classy guy.

Joe Kelly got the start. He went 2 innings, facing 8 batters. He allowed no hits or runs, but did surrender 2 walks.  He threw 30 pitches.

The Cards scored in the second inning on a two-Run single from Daniel Descalso.

Update (1:09 P.M. cst):

The Astros put up a run in the bottom of the third off of Cards pitcher John Gast.  2-1 Cardinals.

Update (1:41 P.M. cst):

Astros put up another in the bottom of the 4th but Cards respond in top of 5th with 3 runs.  2 RBI from Kozma and 1 from Taveras. 5-2 Cards.

Update Final Score:

The Cards surrendered 2 in the 7th and 2 more in the 9th to leave the game in an 8-8 tie (no extras in Spring League ball).  Jorge Rondon and Victor Marte allowed the runs.  Adron Chambers hit a 3 run HR in the 6th to provide the 3 final runs for the Redbirds.
