St. Louis Cardinals: Joe Kelly (4-5; 3.61 ERA)

Coming off a few shorter stints Kelly has looked solid, allowing just 4 ER in his past three appearances (15 innings).  In a huge rubber match against the Pirates, Kelly is going to have to keep focused and make his pitches in order to get guys out early in the game, a huge must in order for him to be successful.

Pittsburgh Pirates: Wandy Rodriguez (8-13; 3.86 ERA)

Don’t let Rodriguez’s record fool you: he spent a majority of the year with the lowly Houston Astros, garnering little run support.  That said, he has allowed 3 or more earned runs in each of his starts with the Pirates, and needs to bear down in order to top the Cards.

THE SKINNY: Should be interesting.  If Rodriguez’s relief appearance in the 19 inning showdown a few weeks back (2 innings, 1 hit, no runs) was any indication of how Rodriguez can match up against the Cards, the Redbird bats could be in for a long night.
