Tony LaRussa appeared on the Mike Francesa show in New York on Tuesday afternoon to talk about his new book One Last Strike. Click here to listen!

Some highlights from the interview:

— He does not miss the dugout. He managed for 33 years and it was time to leave.

— The thing about managing that the public doesn’t know is how hard at least his team worked at building personal relationships and building respect and trust between everyone in the dugout and that that stuff came before the baseball side of things.

— Dave duncan is “the least BS guy you’ll ever meet” and he could fix any problem.

— Albert Pujols was “as perfect a competitor and a person hes ever been around.” As a player he did everything perfect. But neither him or the Cardinals should be blamed for him not returning. It’s simply a product of the system and the Angels played the system.
