Walden Signs With Cards

The Cardinals announced today that newly acquired relief pitcher Jordan Walden has signed a two-year 6.6 million dollar deal with a 5.25 million team option for 2017. This deal means that the Cards will avoid arbitration with Walden and they will not have to negotiate a new contract with the pitcher before each of the next two seasons.

Over his five-year career Walden has a 3.10 ERA, and in 58 appearances last season with the Atlanta Braves Walden had a 2.88 ERA and averaged 11.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
