The Cardinals intend to make an offer to Bengie Molina, the older brother of All-Star catcher Yadier Molina, to make him the team’s new assistant hitting coach. The position became open when the former assistant, John Mabry, moved up to the head spot after Mark McGwire’s accepted the head hitting coach position with the Dodgers.  Ironically, Molina, a two-time Golden Glove winner, was known more for his defensive ability during his 13-year playing career, which ended in 2010.
