For the first time ever, the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) announced finalists for all MLB postseason awards ahead of the formal winner announcements, all to come next week. The AL and NL Rookies of the Year will be given out Monday, and the AL and NL MVP Awards will culminate the awards week on Thursday.

Yadier Molina was named as one of the 5 NL MVP finalists, along with Ryan Braun (Brewers), Buster Posey (Giants), Chase Headley (Padres), and Andrew McCutchen (Pirates)

It is not likely that Yadi will be able to pull out some more hardware next Thursday, but the fact that he was put in the top 5 speaks volumes to the recognition he is starting to receive around baseball for his immense impact on this Cardinals team.
